Attainable Housing. An Effective Yet Under-Addressed Upstream Health Intervention

Often under-recognized, housing burden or unattainable housing has a cascading downstream impact to the health and education of our neighbors and children. Join us as we discuss collaborative community programs and development opportunities across the housing continuum aimed at stabilizing housing, lessening food insecurity, enhancing an array of health measures, and advancing educational attainment. A healthy housing system is within our reach when we collaborate across sectors.

Examining Housing ROI and Informing Data-Driven Decision Making

Is a community, better off to invest in housing now?  Or ignore the potential income streams created from housing, as well as cover the downstream system costs from families unhoused or living in unaffordable housing?  There is a clear trade off.  There is an unmistakable risk of inaction.

Poverty... the Impact on our Communities' Children.

We have heard a great deal over the past years about the “No Child Left Behind” ideal; but, it was presented as if it were an academic issue.  Quite simply, “No Child Left Behind” begins with meeting Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.  Children must be fed and have stable, safe, quality housing before they can learn… before they can reach their full potential.

Charla's Notes: So, what is the single biggest threat to a child’s well-being?  Many are probably thinking their siblings… but it is in fact poverty.  This is an eye-opener.

Service. Text the staff... we have a customer.

Perfect for anyone that provides or leads internal or external service.  Everyone needs to stop and refocus on the aspects and impact of the service they provide.  This session will bring quick improvements to sales numbers by creating a stronger service foundation.

Charla's Notes: I have found this session truly is meant for all service providers, regardless of their tenure.  I presented this to a group of clearly seasoned professionals at one Midwestern bank.  The following day, they surveyed the attendees and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.  Why?  As it turns out... we all need reminded of service basics, no matter how veteran or novice we are.

Customer Moments that Matter. The Morphing of Grumpzilla.

Leadership. Identify your Style.

For all folks in management or leadership roles.  Anyone who leads people will tell you its the hardest part of their work and the most volatile.  This session is designed to Identify your personal style and its impact on the three critical characteristics of successful leadership.

Charla's Notes:  I'll borrow a phrase I often heard from my Dad, "You get more flies with honey than you do vinegar."

Non-Profit Management - it's a Business.

We will discuss leadership, board roles, funding, and the vast opportunities and pitfalls to better serve your mission.  We will also focus on the often overlooked role  of  brand development and communication.

Charla's Notes:  As a society we reward businesses for being creative but expect non-profits to be successful without using the same playbook

The Bar is Open!  Set the bar to aspire higher.

The beauty of this session is you will learn the real secret to success is to move the bar DOWN…. it’s just easier that way!   We will discuss your mindset, roadblocks, and measurements to achieving change.

Charla's Notes: We all live crazy, busy lives...  so It just makes sense that if you want change, it's better to focus on the next rung of the ladder rather than the top.  A small step always looks a little more attainable, even through tired eyes, but it still leads to success.

Life is a Balancing Act... use paper plates.

It seems our lives have gotten crazy, sometimes even out-of-control.  This session covers 7 simple ways to better balance the outcomes, expectations, and attitude of your day.  And, as an added gift, the '7 ways' do not include eating right or exercise!

Charla's Notes: I did this for a Women and Business luncheon recently and it was incredibly fun because we were able to pick on the men in our lives, as well as the group a bit.   Coming from a home where the cat and I are the only ladies... it was a nice to have the women outnumber the men for a change!

A practical, common sense approach to launching an idea, whether its your idea, one you have been uncooperatively dragged into.   And, as an bonus, discover how to use the opportunity as a mini launching pad to a better organizational service mentality.

Charla's Notes: This is a kitchen-sink session to beginning change.

Marketing on a Budget. McGyver Marketing.

McGyver was a TV sitcom in the late 1980s.  The term Macgyverism was coined for the character's ability to use everyday objects to perform extraordinary feats. That’s what Marketing on a Budget is.  You figure out a way to get it done without having the high cost tools or agency support.  You do it with creativity and ingenuity.

Charla's Notes: This is one I live on a daily basis.  Marketing is a personal passion.  I have been lucky enough to experience it growing up in retail, working for a bank, assisting non-profits, and as a sole proprietor.

Mindset... cancel tomorrow.

Young to old.  We get what we give... whether at work or personally.  See how your mindset impacts yourself and others.  This session reveals 5 simple ways to improve your mindset.  Those that attend will leave energized and motivated.

Charla's Notes: This is one of my favorite topics, because when we choose a positive mindset, roadblocks disappear and relationships flourish.   My 90 year old aunt is my attitude inspiration.  All 4 foot 8 inches of her.  Rest assured, you would like Doris.

Tailor to fit.

Charla's notes:  This is just a smattering of subject matter I cover.  I will be happy to tailor the topic and information to meet your function's objectives.
